I’m Matthijs Kleverlaan a UX lead / Senior UX designer with a strong experience in a diversity of design tasks and also experienced in doing Product owner work on the side. I’m recently certified as CSPO. I’m living in Haarlem in the Netherlands where I live with my wife, daughter and son.
For more than 15 years I’m working on all kinds of digital and physical projects. I helped organisations to transform into a more digitally mature business through true user-centric and research-based products & service design solutions.
Within this period I have at least 8 years of experience in working on b2c and b2b projects for e-commerce platforms, Information portals and digital and physical projects. Within the last 3 years, I have gained experience in a more lead designer role and DesignOps roles like structuring processes and supporting a team of designers and developers. Within this period there was a strong part of working on Design systems.
At the moment I’m working at the NS, de Nederlandse Spoorwegen (The Dutch Railways which is the principal passenger railway operator in the Netherlands). Here I work as Sr Product designer for the NS business department. This means that I’m responsible for the improvement of the digital services connection of the Business clients. Mostly focussing on improving the Mijn NS Zakelijk digital platform through user research getting customer feedback through Usabilla and listening to customer service calls. Besides this, I’m working closely with our development partners to improve NS.zl/zakelijk website.
Before this, I worked as a UX Lead at Lepaya.com. Lepaya is an online learning platform. Here I led the UX team and helped the team to scale through Design OPS and set all the processes in place. Besides defining the rules of engagement, I worked on improving the digital touchpoints to grow to a consistent experience by delivering a new Design system with the team. Which resulted in delivering an optimal informative digital experience for the end user.
In my work, I have a strong passion for delivering design solutions which help users in there day to day living. I always strive to provide a frictionless experience to the user and deliver the information and interaction seamlessly so they can carefreely complete the needed tasks.
Personal insights
If I’m not working on new digital challenges you can find me doing outdoor activities, like running or hiking on trails or hear me bragging about lovely little adventures which I did. And of course, taking my kids into nature and showing them the great beauty 😍 of the outdoors.
Besides these year-round activities, you wil find me in the winter in the Alps ⛰ doing some snowshoeing, snowboarding or helping my kids to learn to ski and enjoying the beauty of being the nature.
